Medical Examiners
The Regional Forensic Center currently has five full time forensic pathologist on staff to serve as the medical examiner for Knox and Anderson Counties and to help with the services we provide to other counties in Tennessee. All five of our medical examiners are board certified forensic pathologist. There are approximately 500 doctors with this certification in the United States today and only 1,670 doctors have had this certification since it began in 1959 (NAME website). They are Tennessee licensed professionals who perform autopsies, exams, and research to determine a cause and manner of death. Not only do they practice medicine but all five of our forensic pathologist also teach. All of the RFC Medical Examiners are Associate Professors at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine and lecture nationwide. Their combined achievements and awards are numerous and exceptional. The RFC is thankful to have them on our team and their expertise is vital to Knox County, Anderson County, and the other counties we serve.
