Knox County Clerk
The Courthouse Clerk’s Office and the Cedar Bluff, Halls, and East satellite offices opened, with controlled access, on Monday, May 4th. Applications for Title & Registration, Registration Renewals, Marriage Licenses, Notary Oaths & Bonds, Business License Applications, and Driver License Applications, including applications for Real ID/Gold Star Driver License, are being processed for Knox County Residents following the recommended guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Contagion barriers have been installed in the four offices; Knox County Residents are encouraged to wear masks while in the service area; Applicants enter the service area, one-at-a-time, only when a deputy is available and only when a safe distance is allowed between applicants. Entrances to the offices are clearly marked so social distancing is adhered to. Public Building Authority Personnel are on-hand to direct traffic and control access, per state and local guidelines.
The County Clerk encourages the renewal of registrations by mail, by phone, or online, where feasible.
Governor Bill Lee extended the expiration date of March and April, 2020, vehicle registrations to June 15, 2020, and delayed the expiration of most Tennessee Driver License classifications and IDs, set to expire between March 12, 2020, and May 18, 2020, for an additional six months from their original expiration date, by Executive Order No. 15.

"We are excited to announce that we have expanded our list of available services, through our partnership with the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, to include the renewal and replacement of Real ID compliant Driver Licenses and ID cards. I will feature a Specialty License Plate option offered at any of the six Knox County Clerk’s Offices for residents who wish to add a unique touch to their vehicle and support a worthy cause at the same time. Tennessee offers over 100 different tag options for passenger vehicles.
The proceeds from the sell of this specialty license plate go to educate communities on the important role honeybees play in agriculture and in our environment, like Honeybee Tennessee, which seeks to inspire Tennesseans to take action to protect, preserve, and foster the state’s honeybee population.
See what the buzz is all about! This vibrant and unique specialty license plate truly is “the bees knees”!
