Gang Members Convicted of Robbing Disabled Family Member

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen's Career Gang Unit obtained multiple convictions against two gang members who robbed a wheelchair-bound family member. Byron Edwin Hartshaw, 34, and Gary Lee Emory, 37, were convicted of Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Burglary. The jury also found that Hartshaw is a member of the Vice Lords criminal street gang and that Emory is a member of the Gangster Disciples. Judge Steve Sword set the case for sentencing on July 13 where both men face between fifteen and twenty-seven years in prison....more


Drug Dealer Convicted of Murder Sentenced to Thirty-Seven Years

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen’s Felony Drug Unit obtained a thirty-seven-year sentence against a career criminal whose drug dealing led to the death of a thirty-year-old woman.  Kenyon Demario Reynolds, 43, was convicted of Second Degree Murder, Sale and Delivery of Heroin in a Drug Free School Zone, Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Heroin in a Drug Free School Zone, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.  Today, Judge Bob McGee sentenced Reynolds to serve thirty-seven years in prison.  In addition to finding Reynolds guilty, the jury also assessed fines totaling $830,000. ...more

Crips Gang Members Convicted in East Knoxville Shooting

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen's Career Gang Unit obtained multiple convictions against two gang members who shot a man on Linden Avenue during a robbery. Tyshon Artrell Booker, 19, was convicted earlier this year of First Degree Felony Murder and Especially Aggravated Robbery and sentenced to life in prison. Today, Bradley Lamar Robinson, 19, was convicted of Facilitation of First Degree Felony Murder and Facilitation of Especially Aggravated Robbery. Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen's Career Gang Unit obtained multiple convictions against a gang member who robbed and shot a man in Lonsdale. Joshua Derrell Hurt, 19, was convicted of Especially Aggravated Robbery, Attempted Voluntary Manslaughter, and Employing a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony. Judge Steve Sword set the case for sentencing on May 31 where Hurt faces a minimum of fifteen years in prison without the possibility of parole....more

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen's Career Gang Unit obtained a thirty-year sentence against a gang member and career criminal. Glenn Larry Brown, Jr., 37, was convicted of Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine in a Drug Free School Zone, Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Controlled Substance Analogue, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Con Artist Convicted of Defrauding American Legion

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen's White Collar Unit obtained convictions against a con artist who lied about his military service to steal from veterans. Donald Jerden Hunley, 41, was ordered into custody today after pleading guilty to Theft over $10,000. Judge Bob McGee sentenced Hunley to a ten-year sentence with service of one year in the Knox County Jail. Hunley must also repay $10,314.15 to the American Legion Post #2....more

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen's Career Gang Unit obtained convictions against a Crips gang member who shot a man during a drug deal. Demorris Sanchez McKenzie, 28, was convicted of First Degree Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Driving on a Revoked License. Judge Bob McGee imposed the mandatory life sentence for the murder conviction and set the case for sentencing on May 4 to address the other counts....more

Stepfather Sentenced to Twelve Years for Molesting Second Grader

Prosecutors in DA Charme Allen's Child Abuse Unit obtained a twelve-year sentence against a stepfather who sexually abused a seven-year-old child. Justin Dewayne Bumby, 29, was convicted last month of two counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery. In a sentencing hearing today, Judge Scott Green sentenced Bumby to serve twelve years in prison without the possibility of parole....more
