Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program


WIC is a nutrition program that helps the whole family learn about eating well and staying healthy. WIC helps thousands of families in Knox County with good food, helpful advice and referrals to community resources. WIC serves pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants, and children under the age of five who qualify. The WIC Program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture.

WIC Services

  • Nutrition Education
    WIC nutrition professionals provide personalized nutrition education with ongoing assessments and routine follow-ups. WIC works with families to address:

    The WIC food package includes a variety of healthy options to help pave the way for a lifetime of nutritious eating.
  • Breastfeeding Support
    Whether you're starting out on your breastfeeding journey or having unexpected challenges, WIC is here to help you every step of the way. We want you to have a happy, healthy baby and a good breastfeeding experience.
  • Information for Healthcare Providers
    The success of the WIC program relies on partnerships with local healthcare providers who offer primary care for participants. In serving the same community, we can work together to bridge gaps and ensure every family has a healthy start.

On the first Wednesday of each month (excluding August), KCHD will open at 11 a.m. due to monthly in-service. The 2024 in-service dates include Oct. 2, Nov. 6 and Dec. 4.
