Common Sinkhole Issues:

There is a hole in my yard!
Holes or depressions in your yard may be due to failing utility infrastructure, such as sanitary sewer lines or storm sewer lines, debris bury pits, animal homes, decaying tree stumps, old septic systems or cisterns, and sinkholes. There are different strategies and solutions for each of these causes. Contact Knox County Engineering and Public Works at epw-operations@knoxcounty.org or at (865) 215-5800. If you have a sinkhole on your property, you may need to consult with a Geotechnical Engineer on possible solutions to stabilize a dropout.
