1. Introduction to Tobacco Use Prevention and Control

2. Tobacco Use Is a Major Health Concern

Each year 480,000 Americans die from tobacco related causes; that's 1 out of every 5 deaths that is attributed to tobacco use, which is more than car accidents, firearm related incidents, illegal drug use, alcohol use, murder, and HIV/AIDS combined. Watch this video lesson to learn more about why tobacco use is a major health concern for the Knox County community.

3. Pregnancy and Smoking

Using tobacco products, such as cigarettes, vapes, or dip during pregnancy affects the health of the mother and baby. Watch this video to understand the affects of tobacco products during pregnancy.

4. Behavioral Health and Smoking

Adults with mental health or substance use disorders use tobacco at a significantly higher rate. This lesson details the relationship between smoking and behavioral health.

5. The 5 A's of Brief Intervention Training

Tobacco dependence is a chronic condition; no amount of tobacco use is safe and tobacco use treatment can take time, requires support, and may include several attempts. Watch lesson 4 to understand more about intervention training.

7. Billing Information (Employers)

In 2014, tobacco treatment became a covered treatment under the Affordable Care Act. This lesson will provide additional details on billing for tobacco treatment.
