Healthy Habits is a two-part program that combines seminars for early childhood educators and food literacy programming to promote healthy habits for students at early childhood education centers.
Any early childhood center in Knox County can use Healthy Habits programming. Please see below for more information.
Healthy Habits hosts seminars for early childhood educators four times a year. The seminars cover topics related to health and wellness including nutrition and physical activity guidelines, outdoor learning, heart health, food safety and more. Educators who attend these seminars are eligible to receive continued education credits.
Seminars are scheduled every year during the months of February, May, August and November.

Through Healthy Habits, early childhood education centers can receive resources to incorporate food literacy into their curriculum. Current available resources include:
- Food literacy lesson plans
- Materials to complete lessons including art supplies and accompanying books
- Indoor/outdoor garden supplies
Centers who participate in food literacy programming also have the option to take part in monthly produce taste tests. Each participating center receives a monthly delivery of a different fresh fruit or vegetable to conduct taste tests with their students.
