Knox County Tennessee

FAQs

Our car seats are reserved for our families that have chosen to enroll in our program. Our program is voluntary, but it does require you to participate in meeting with your care coordinator at least once a month. We have a very limited supply of car seats for our clients. They are reserved for emergency situations and/or when clients have no other resources to purchase one.

CHANT keeps a supply of pack-n-plays for families enrolled in our program. Like our car seats, they are distributed on a case-by-case basis to ensure they go to families most in need. During the first year of life, safe sleep is essential and practicing safe sleep saves babies’ lives and prevents heartache for parents. Safe sleep means having your baby sleep alone; on their back; and in a crib, bassinette or pack-n-play without any bedding, toys or stuffed animals. If you are unsure about safe sleep for your baby or have questions, please call 865-215-5190 for more information.

These are items we can provide to our families who have chosen to enroll in our program. These items are also based on an urgent need and are meant to be used sparingly. Our care coordinators will also work to link families to other community resources available to meet this need.

TennCare and CoverKids members under age 2 are eligible for the TennCare Diaper Benefit. For more information on this program, visit Diapers (tn.gov).

If you are interested in our services or referring someone to our services, please call 865-215-5190 to make a referral. CHANT accepts referrals from any source, and families can self-refer into the program. CHANT receives referrals from schools, hospitals, pediatricians, WIC, KCHD’s Women’s Health Clinic, community partners and more. Prenatal parents or those caring for a child in the home under the age of 21 are eligible.

CSS Services are available to Knox County residents who are 21 years of age or younger and meet the program's diagnostic and financial guidelines.
