Hazard Mitigation Plan Update

Knox County is nearing the completion of its critical update to the Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, designed to reduce the impact of natural disasters like floods, severe storms, and tornadoes. This strategic blueprint, involving Knox County and the cities of Farragut and Knoxville, details actions to protect our community and infrastructure. Your feedback is essential to help prioritize these actions. Participate in the Knox County Hazard Mitigation Survey by December 20, 2024, and play a key role in shaping our community's safety measures. Visit and take the survey to contribute your insights. Here is a link to the Knox County Hazard Mitigation Web Page that has the current plan and will house the new plan once it is completed.

East Knox Mobility Study
Knox County is conducting the East Knox Mobility Study to evaluate transportation needs and develop strategies for improved connectivity in the Gibbs, Corryton, Ritta, Strawberry Plains, and Mascot areas.

Integrated Watershed Planning
Knox County is creating an integrated watershed planning framework to holistically address water quality and quantity, assess watershed health, and prioritize improvement projects.

Choto Mobility Study
Knox County is conducting a mobility study for the Choto area in southwest Knox County to evaluate transportation needs and develop improvement strategies.

Solid Waste Plans
The Knox County Solid Waste Board develops county-wide regional waste plans to ensure the most cost-effective and efficient management of solid waste, prioritizing the best interests of Knox County residents. The board is supported by the Knox County Solid Waste Offices, which serve as its staff agency.
