Commissioner Eddie Smith


Eddie Smith serves as the Director of Organizational Advancement for Childhelp Tennessee, an organization serving the at-risk, neglected, and abused children of Knoxville and East Tennessee, and he is a proud, life-long Knoxvillian.

Eddie is a Former State Representative having served House District 13 in Knoxville, TN from 2014-2018 as a member of the 109th & 110th General Assemblies.  While in office, Rep. Smith served as the Vice-Chair for the House Education Committee, on the House Transportation Committee, and was appointed by Speaker Beth Harwell to serve on the Systems Information Council reviewing all IT systems and processes for the State of Tennessee.

He was appointed by the Knox County Legislative Delegation in 2021 to serve on the Knox County Election Commission. Additionally, he also serves as a Commissioner on the Tennessee Public Charter School Commission (appointed by Governor Bill Lee), a Commissioner on the Knoxville-Knox County Planning Commission (appointed by Mayor Glenn Jacobs), and as a Board Member of the Southern Regional Education Board (appointed by former Governor Bill Haslam).

Eddie graduated from Tusculum College with a B.S. in Business.  He is married to Lanna Keck-Smith and together they have two wonderful children where they live in Northeast Knoxville.
