On March 6th Knox County Parks & Recreation hosted the Doyle Academy Coaches Certification Clinic, with 204 coaches in attendance from area Baseball and SoftballAssociations. The clinic is provided free to Knox County Baseball & Softball coaches, coaching within our programs. With a Doyle Coaches’ Certification the participant receives, personal liability, hands on training techniques, organization tips and handouts, drill solutions, learn safety and first aid issues, along with speed and agility tips. Our appreciation goes out to Principal Sonya Winstead and her staff from Bearden Middle School for their kind support of this event over the years.
PLEASE NOTE: A Coaches Certification Program is MANDATORY for all baseball and youth softball coaches.
Registration for Adult & Youth Softball Umpires
When: Wednesday, March 10, 2010
Where: Knox County Parks & Recreation Office -- 2447 Sutherland Avenue
Cost to Register: $30.00 – Exact cash or checks will be accepted. Make checks payable to Tennessee ASA -- For additional information contact Jennifer Gentry 215-6609

Adult Spring Softball Sign-ups for 2010
Sign-ups will be conducted on a daily basis depending on which night you are signing up for. For example: If you want to play on Monday night, you would come to our office on Monday or if you wanted to play Tuesday night come on Tuesday and so on between the hours of 8:30a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Please note, you can only sign up for one night at a time and not multiple nights.) If needing multiple nights you would need to come to our office on multiple days. For example: If you have two teams and need both Monday & Thursday, you would come to our office on Monday and pay and come back to our office on Thursday and pay. Please know which league your team wants and sign your team up for that night.

Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The Registration Fee for 1 night of play is $275.00 (Please see by-laws for other equipment you must have.) Please be prepared to make payment on the day you sign-up. Money orders, exact cash or checks are accepted. Make checks payable to Knox County Parks and Recreation.
**NO EXCEPTIONS** – Fees must be paid when signing a team up. If a check comes back with insuffient funds and that person and/or team does not satisfy the financial obligations within the time frame set by the Sports Supervisor, then that team will be eliminated from the league.

The youth softball Commissioners Meeting will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at the Knox County Parks and Recreation Department Office.
