PRIVATE CITIZENS SEEKING A CRIMINAL ARREST WARRANT

If you are not a police officer or do not have a police officer with you and wish to take out a criminal arrest warrant, you must comply with the following procedures: 

1. Private citizens criminal warrants and summons are ONLY issued Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

2. Judicial Commissioners may sign criminal warrants and criminal summons for prosecutions initiated by private citizens.

Judicial Commissioners and Assistant District Attorneys are available to assist you, answer questions and to issue civilian prosecutorial arrest warrants if probable cause exists.

 Judicial Commissioners are located in the City-County Building, 400 Main Avenue. Knoxville, on floor L-1, next to the Public Building Authority Security Office.
