KCHD provides the following preventative health services (all services may not be provided at all locations):
- Well Child Exams (EPSDT)
- STD/HIV Screenings
- TB Skin Testing
- Family Planning
- Lice and Scabies Checks
- Blood Pressure Checks
- Newborn Screening Tests
EPSDT physicals (well check-ups) are provided to TennCare recipients with proof of TennCare coverage. These physicals include a complete family and medical history, vision, hearing and developmental screenings, as well as screening for risk of tuberculosis, cholesterol and lead risk. A complete physical is performed by a nurse, any abnormal findings are referred to the clients primary care provider. EPSDT physicals are by appointment and TennCare is billed.
KCHD provides immunizations recommended by the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and other professional organizations for infants, children and adults.
Family Planning provides contraceptive counseling, birth control, pregnancy testing and pap smears. Exams for women include: medical history, urine, blood and vaginal infection tests; weight and blood pressure check; pelvic and breast exams; and pap smears.
Please call ahead to assure services are available for that day and time. Not all services are available at all locations.
Some clinical services require a fee which may be based on income, diagnosis and/or eligibility. Payment is due at the time of service. KCHD may bill insurers based on coverage. Proof of income and insurance may be required. No one will be denied service because they cannot pay. Ask clinic staff for more information.
