This year’s annual Holiday Festival of Lights at the Cove set a record, raising $7,677.42 and collecting 12 barrels worth of donated food.

Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs and Knox County Parks and Recreation Department team members will deliver a check and the food to the non-profit Love Kitchen at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13.

The Love Kitchen is located at 2418 Martin Luther King Jr Ave. The media and public are welcome.

The donations were collected in December during the department’s 21st annual Holiday Festival of Lights event. This year the event ran 27 days – almost all of December. In the past, the event ran for roughly two weeks from mid- to late-December. Last year visitors donated $2,700.

The Love Kitchen provides meals, clothing and emergency food packages to the homebound, homeless and unemployed.
