KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knox County will host the first round of public meetings designed to hear community input about a major greenway corridor study that will touch each section of the county.
The study will evaluate roughly 65 miles of proposed greenways within the county, some that may connect to other cities and counties.
County officials, landscape architects and engineers tied to the study will be on hand to answer questions. They also will have renderings of the proposed project
Each meeting will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on the following dates:
- June 5 in the Karns Elementary School gymnasium
- June 6 in the Northshore Elementary School cafeteria
- June 11in the Halls Elementary School gymnasium
- June 12 in the Bonnie Kate Elementary School gymnasium
The four corridors are:
- Beaver Creek, which will run east from Melton Hill Park in Hardin Valley to the Gibbs community.
- Northshore, which will run from the Loudon County line to Lakeshore Park.
- Chapman Highway, which will run north from the Sevier County line to Gary Underwood Park.
- John Sevier, which will run from Chapman Highway to Alcoa Highway and ultimately connect the Knox-Blount Greenway.
The county will schedule a second and final round of meetings later in the year.
