What: Scarecrows in the Park
When: Thursday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. through Thursday, Oct. 31
Where: New Harvest Park, 4775 New Harvest Lane
Scarecrows in the Park is going on now through Halloween at New Harvest Park in northeast Knox County. The Scarecrow Trail will be open each day from sunrise until sunset at 4775 New Harvest Lane.
Individuals, organizations, school groups and families have designed and placed their creepy or silly scarecrows along the quarter-mile walking trail at New Harvest Park.
Public ballots were cast and the winners in the 2013 Scarecrows in the Park competition are:
Adult/Professional Group
1st – Cisco Kid & Sally Thunderhead – Knox County Public Library/Imagination Library
2nd – CareCrow – Summit Medical Express Clinics
Individual Design
1st – Say What? – Gretchen Paxton
2nd – The Scare“croaks” Family – Audrey Overbury
Youth/Student Group
1st – Si the 4H Guy – TCA 4H Club
2nd – Poe – L&N STEM Academy Art Honor Society
First place winners in each category were presented $100 by the Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union, and second place winners received a free shelter rental at any Knox County park.
