Knox County opens first bocce ball court

KNOXVILLE (May 24, 2013) – This morning, Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett participated in the inaugural game of bocce ball at Knox County’s first framed bocce ball court.

Mayor Burchett was joined by Knoxville City Councilman Nick Della Volpe, Knoxville City Councilman and former Mayor Dan Brown, Knox County Commissioner Ed Shouse, Thomas “Tank” Strickland, Senior Director of Parks and Recreation Doug Bataille, CEMEX
representatives who have adopted the park and members of the community.

The bocce ball court is located in Thomas “Tank” Strickland Park at 4618 Asheville Hwy. The court and bocce sets, which can be checked out next door at the Burlington Library, are free and open to the public.
