KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 12, 2018) – Renovations to the Carter Convenience Center, 8815 Asheville Highway, are expected to begin on Monday, March 19. This week, the center will begin transitioning to a temporary location adjacent to the current facility. Construction is expected to last through September.
During the construction process, the Carter Center will ONLY accept bagged household trash for disposal.
The temporary location will NOT accept:
- Bulky construction waste
- Scrap metal
- Auto fluids
- CFLs/fluorescent/mercury bulbs
Knox County operates seven Solid Waste Convenience Centers throughout the County. The closest locations to the Carter Center that will accept the items listed above are:
- John Sevier Convenience Center, 1950 W. Governor John Sevier Highway
- Tazewell Pike/Gibbs Convenience Center, 7201 Tazewell Pike
