Knox County Clerk of Courts Mike Hammond has announced his office’s participation in Purple Out Day September 18th.  The initiative is part of a statewide effort to increase awareness and raise money for Alzheimer’s Tennessee.  Joining Hammond in the announcement were Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett, Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero, Blount County Circuit Court Clerk Tom Hatcher, Knox County Circuit and Juvenile Court Clerk Kathy Shanks, and Alzheimer’s Tennessee Executive Director Janie Wade.  “Alzheimer’s affects everyone,”  Hammond said.  “It is our hope clerks from Mountain City to Memphis can provide people information about the disease and encourage our citizens to raise money for research.”  September is Alzheimer’s awareness month.
