In 2016 over 7,000 court cases were successfully expunged through the newly established Knox County Expungement Court.  This relatively new concept was the direct result of joint efforts between Knox County District Attorney General Charme Allen and Knox County Criminal Court Clerk Mike Hammond.  Citizens who are seeking expungement of their criminal record are now able to receive direct assistance at the Knox County Expungement Courtroom.  Deputy Court Clerks and the District Attorney’s staff are readily available to provide individualized assistance to citizens for the proper processing of expungement petitions.  The Expungement  Courtroom is available to the general public each week on Monday and Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the Fourth Sessions Courtroom, located on the Main Floor of the City County Building.  For more information call (865) 215-2375 or visit www.knoxcounty.org/criminalcourt/services/expungement.
