July Items NOT on consent

Good Afternoon Commissioners,

The following items are NOT going to be on the consent agenda.

Honorary resolutions are to be sent forward to next week’s meeting for formal vote.

Schools: 9. The resolution and MOU are very clear regarding responsibilities. Is this a new MOU from prior years or the first time in writing we have spelled out the roles and responsibilities?

Sheriff’s Department: 25. This appears to be a change from prior years in that the State is covering the cost of the car devices and the State and County are going 50/50 on the other types monitoring devices. Have these devices been helpful in reducing the jail population?

Community Development: Items 35-40.
Dwight please provide an overview of the CDBG program. When we spoke today you mentioned a couple of new programs. I think the Commission and Public would have an interest in learning more specifics.

Procurement: 47-50. Are the results of the tax sales inline with prior years? Similar number of properties that were sold?

56 – Pilot in Commissioner Carringer’s District. Joe Petre present to answer any questions. Similar to the Pilots we had at the end of the year where the City has a Pilot but we need to approve because there is potential for retail in the development.

Item 57 – New Roads
Item 58 – 1st Reading regarding closure of Norma Mae Lane.
Item 59 – Line Item Transfers

Item 60 – Discussion Item regarding Strategic Retreat – Commissioner Jay

Item 61 – Discussion Item regarding TSCA Transportation Committee – Commissioner Busler

Item 62 – Discussion Item regarding Tristar & Smokey Mountain Classic.

If the Work Session is running long, the Chair will move one or more of the discussion items to the voting meeting on Monday.

Please let me know if you would like to pull any additional items.

Thank you,

Chairman Nystrom
