A local nonprofit, Ijams Nature Center is contracted to provide recycling and waste reduction education to five target groups in Knox County. The five target groups are local businesses, media outlets, Knox county citizens, students, and government workers. Their signature program called Ijams Recycles and their Go Green website is an extension of their activities contracted by Knox County.
Ijams Education for the Public
Ijams Nature Center is a 175-acre wildlife sanctuary and environmental learning center, providing community-wide connections and experiences through education, conservation, recreation and responsible environmental stewardship for all people.
Ijams Education for Knox County Businesses
Ijams Recycles is dedicated to the development of a new strategy to target and provide free advice and consultations to local businesses to help set up or support existing recycling programs. Ijams provides information and resources on how to create a self-sustaining program that employees can carry out themselves.
Lunch and Learn Opportunities
Coupled with the online resources, Ijams can also provide free recycling workshops and lunch and learn programs. Opportunities include a wide variety of topics from the Living Clean & Green series including:

All lunch and learn programs are free and typically run an hour in length but can be tailored to meet your needs.

There are a variety of considerations that an office or organization can consider that will reduce the impact on the environment. In addition to waste reduction and recycling efforts, Ijams offers buying guides to download will provide advice for purchasing materials such as ink and toner, electronics, paper, adhesives, and other office-related supplies.
