Thanks to all the individuals, families, and organizations who participated in our first Scarecrows in the Park event at New Harvest Park. The event was enthusiastically received by the community, and was great fun for all involved. Twenty-seven creative and imaginative scarecrows were placed along the walking trail at the park for 10 days. During the first two days, the public voted for their favorites. Those votes, combined with the scores from four Celebrity Judges, selected our overall winners in both the adult and youth categories. (An amusing side note—the folks managing the early voting at New Harvest Park said they had more people asking about how to vote for the scarecrows than they had voting in the election!)
The first place winners, who received a $100 prize sponsored by the Knoxville TVA Credit Union were LOOMIS
(pictured to the left) by Victor Zanoni in the adult category and SEE-THROUGH SALLY (picture below) by Jordan Graham in the youth category. Second place went to BYE BYE BIRDIE by the McPherson Family and SPARKY AND FRIENDS by Spring Hill Elementary School. In third place were MR. HOWL-O-WEEN by Young-Williams Animal Center and LITTLE MISS MUFFET by the Hockman and Hughes Families.

If you didn’t have a chance to see the scarecrows, with the hillside of colorful fall leaves behind them, you really missed an experience. But, you can see them here.
