Dogwood Arts Festival

Enjoy kayaking, canoeing, stand-up-paddle boarding and other outdoor activities this summer at The Cove at Concord Park, located at 11808 S. Northshore Drive. These activities are hosted by River Sports Outfitters.

 

 

 

 

Hours of operation:
Monday-Friday: 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Sunday: Noon - 8 p.m.

Available for rental: canoes, SUPs, sit-on-top kayaks, sit-on-top tandem kayaks, touring kayaks and rec boats.

$25 per boat for a half day/3 hour rental

$35 per boat for the full day

Social Kayak Paddles
Every Tuesday and Saturday
Time: Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Cost: $15 includes boat, PFD (personal floatation device) and paddle - call 865-523-0066 to reserve.  FREE if you have your own boat
Experience: Prior kayak/SUP experience is encouraged. If you have little to no experience, we recommend taking one of our Discovery Classes.

SUP (Stand Up Paddle) Socials
Every Monday and Wednesday
Time: 6 to 8 p.m.
Cost: $15 includes SUP, PFD and paddle - call 865-523-0066 to reserve.  FREE if you have your own SUP. 
Experience: Prior kayak/SUP experience is encouraged. If you have little to no experience, we recommend taking one of our Discovery Classes.

Boat Demos
Every second and fourth Saturday
You pick the boat you want to demo.
Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Cost: $20 - will receive 10% coupon toward boat purchase
Reserve: Call 865-523-0066 and be sure to include what type of boats you'd like to try.

Summer Camp
Cost: $125   **Pre Registration is required
When: July 8-12 and July 15-19
Time: Morning Session: 8 a.m. to noon
          Afternoon Session: 1 to 5 p.m.
Ages: 8-13 for all weeks and sessions
Camp Size: minimum of 6, maximum of 15
Activities: 2 days at the Climbing Center and 3 days at The Cove.  We will be teaching basic rock climbing, bouldering, kayaking and canoeing.

Discovery Kayak
This is a class for beginner and inexperienced paddlers who want to learn about the sport of recreation kayaking. On shore we will cover safety, dealing with boat traffic, boat fit, paddling posture and how to hold a paddle. On the water we will cover launching, landing and the basic strokes that make the boat go straight and turn. Paddling safety will be stressed. In addition to these skills, you will learn about the ecosystem and the history of the area.
When: Every Saturday throughout the summer
Time: 10 - 11:30 a.m.
Cost: $35 per participant per session. Includes boat, paddle, PFD and expert instruction

Discovery SUP
Discover how easy and fun it is to balance on top of the water. Stand-up-paddle boarding is the perfect blend of exercise and fun. It builds core body strength while allowing you to enjoy scenic lakes, coves and inlets. In a relaxed environment, our expert instructors will teach the fundamentals of stand-up paddling and the essential safety skills.
When: Every Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer
Time: 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Cost: $35 per participant per session. Cost includes board, paddle, PFD and expert instruction

SUP Yoga/Pilates
Take away your yoga mat and replace it with a stand up paddle board. This emerging and very popular activity challenges your balance and is just plain fun! No SUP or yoga experience necessary. Yoga will be taught by Simon Bradbury, yoga instructor and outdoor enthusiast.
When: June 29 and more classes offered in July. Dates not yet available, call 865-523-0066.
Time: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
Cost: $15 for the yoga class. $15 additional for a board rental if needed.

SUPSQUATCH
What is a SUP Squatch you ask? It is our 8 person stand up paddle board, which is great for parties and gatherings. Find a few friends and challenge your teamwork, balance and skill on top of this floating monster. Please call the Cove to reserve the board at 865-696-2330.
Cost: $100 for 4 hours.
Available upon reservation 7 days a week during the Cove's hours of operation.
