The Code Enforcement Department enforces regulations contained in ordinances adopted by Knox County Government that regulate zoning, dirty lots, inoperable vehicles, blighted properties and home occupation. These ordinances are enforced through inspections, notice of violation, lot remediation and the issuing of citations. This Department also handles administrative and enforcement duties for the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Vacant Property Review Commission.
