Knox County Parks and Recreation has released three concept plans for the new Plumb Creek Park property, 32 acres at 1517 Hickey Road, just south of Lovell Road. A public meeting will be held on November 17, at 6 p.m., at Ball Camp Elementary School, to go over the plans and get decisive feedback from the neighborhood.
The three different plans were drawn by Barge, Waggoner, Sumner, and Cannon, and submitted to Knox County this week. The plans were designed after public meetings and an on-line survey solicited the community’s interests and recreational needs. “We are really pleased with these plans,” said Doug Bataille, Sr. Director of Parks and Recreation for Knox County. “Each one is different, but they include the amenities that folks in the area told us they wanted,” he added.
The first design is for a mixed-use park which includes four baseball/softball fields, one multi-purpose field, a basketball/tennis court, and a skate park, The second design, a formal recreational park, consists of eight multi-purpose fields. The final concept features an informal plan, with passive open space, a disc golf course, splash pad, and more natural vegetation. All plans include a perimeter trail, concession and restroom facility, dog park, natural playground, and plenty of parking.
An additional meeting will be scheduled later to reveal the final plans for the park.
