STAND UP PADDLEBOARD ACTIVITIES (SUP)
Saturdays in June from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Enjoy a mix of traditional pilates and yoga working the whole body while relaxing the mind. Now add the addition of balance from the board and tranquility of the lake and nature. Come discover how easy and fun it is to balance on top of the water at The Cove. The perfect blend of exercise and fun, stand up paddle boarding builds core body strength while allowing you to enjoy scenic lakes, coves and inlets. University of Tennessee SUP Yoga
Thursdays in June from 6 to 8 p.m.
Come test your balance on top of a surfboard-like vessel as your instructor leads through a yoga flow. No previous experience necessary. Course is taught at The Cove in Concord Park. Registration information at www.utnoncredit.com
June 7, 14 and 28 from 9 to 11 a.m.
This is a class for the beginner and inexperienced paddlers who want to learn about the sport of recreation kayaking. On shore participants will learn cover safety, dealing with boat traffic, boat fit, paddling posture and how to hold a paddle. On the water participants will learn launching, landing and the basic strokes that make the boat go straight and turn. Paddling safety will be stressed. Kayak Level II
June 14 and 28 from noon to 2 p.m.
This is a class for paddlers with some kayak touring experience wanting to take the sport to the next level. Participants will discuss safety, preparation, paddle and boat fit as well as on the water instruction on advanced strokes, wet exits, bracing, assisted T-rescue, and self rescue. This level II class is designed around a touring kayak with a skirt or a white water boat.
