Mayor, Chairman met with Governor to request funding
KNOXVILLE (Feb. 4, 2014) — Last year, Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett and Commission Chairman Brad Anders met with Governor Haslam to request state funding for a new Knox County Regional Forensic Center facility. Today, the Mayor learned that the Governor included $4.25 million for the center in the state’s Fiscal Year 2015 budget proposal.
This afternoon, Mayor Burchett released the following statement:
“I appreciate Governor Haslam’s support of this important regional facility. When it’s finished, this center will serve several East Tennessee counties by providing access to forensic pathology resources and Knox County Medical Examiner Dr. Darinka Mileusnic’s expertise. I look forward to having the new center up and running by the end of this year.”
Dr. Mileusnic is one of a small group of just over 400 forensic pathologists in the United States.
