2013 Youth Risk Behavior Survey Results

News Image

Designed to track behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of death and disability among youth and adults, the Knox County YRBS is conducted biennially in conjunction with the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention YRBS. Risk categories include tobacco use, unhealthy dietary behaviors, physical inactivity, alcohol and other drug use, sexual behaviors, and violence and injury. By identifying trends, the report serves to inform the community, parents, schools and agencies serving youth about the risky behaviors impacting local teens.

The Knox County Health Department, Knox County Schools Coordinated School Health, East Tennessee Children?s Hospital, Metropolitan Drug Commission and Mental Health Association of East Tennessee team up to coordinate, distribute and evaluate the survey locally.
