July constituent meetings successful, August meetings planned

Knoxville, Tenn. (July 27, 2011) —  Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett spent one evening each week in July meeting with constituents out in the community, giving them an opportunity to speak directly with him without having to travel downtown.  During July, Mayor Burchett hosted meetings in Fountain City, Cedar Bluff, South Knoxville and Hardin Valley.

“As mayor, I think it is important to get out into the community to hear from people where they live, not just in a downtown county office after they have had to pay for parking and pass through security,” Mayor Burchett said.  “Government should be accessible to the people, and I’m going to do all I can to make sure that is the case with my office.”

Four additional weekly meetings are also planned for August.  During the constituent meetings, citizens will have the opportunity to meet privately, one-on-one with Mayor Burchett to discuss issues that are important to them.
