On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the City of Knoxville and Knox County will observe the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks as follows:
A wreath will be displayed all day at the 9/11 memorial on the lawn in front of the City County Building.
City and County employees will be encouraged to observe a moment of silence at 8:45 a.m.
Churches in Knoxville and Knox County are encouraged to ring their bells at 8:45 a.m. and again at 9:05 a.m. Families of 9/11 victims and other members of the general public are invited to assemble at the memorial on the City County Building lawn.
Knoxville Fire Station No. 1 on Summit Hill Drive will display a large American flag throughout the day.
