Q: How do I join Bright Start?
A: Orientations are held every quarter at both the City-County Building and the Main Health Department. Orientation can be completed on County time in most cases, but please check with your supervisor. You will receive all required paperwork at orientation, and a free light lunch will be provided. We advertise orientations via flyer and email, or click here for a complete schedule. An RSVP is required to guarantee a lunch.
Q: What do I have to do to be considered an active Bright Start Member and receive prizes?
A: First, you MUST attend orientation. Also, be sure to turn in your monthly activity forms by the 10th of the month so you can earn your points towards prizes. Bright Start activities are always optional. We also reward points for activities you do on your own time that meet our guidelines.
Q. What forms I need to turn in on a regular basis to earn points?
A: You should be turning in your monthly activity form by the 10th of each month for the prior month. For example, your form listing January’s activities must be turned in by February 10th. A copy of this monthly activity form is located on the forms section of this website. Periodically, we make changes to this form and always place the most current version on our site.
Q: Once I earn a prize, do my points reset?
A: Yes, once you claim a prize, your points reset depending on what prize(s) you have claimed. For example, if you have 200 points and claim a Smoothie King gift card, your points will reset to 100.
Q: When and how are prizes distributed?
A: You will have the option to claim prizes each quarter. You will receive a quarterly statement that will tell you if you are eligible for a prize(s). If you are eligible, fill out the prize claim form selecting your prize and follow the instructions to return it to Human Resources. Your claim will be processed as quickly as possible.
Q: How do I find out how many points I have earned?
A: We will automatically inter-office you the statements that show your quarterly points. If you have a question about your points after you receive your quarterly statement, you may then contact Bright Start at wellness@knoxcounty.org or by calling 215-2321.
Q: Will the prizes be the same each year?
A: Bright Start reserves the right to change the prize schedule from time to time. We want to make sure that the prizes we offer will motivate you! Click here for a current prize schedule.
Q: How do I submit for activities that are not on the form?
A: You should write the activity on your tracking form under “special consideration”. Bright Start staff will determine how many, if any, points you will be rewarded for your activity.
Q: Can I still enroll in Bright Start even if I don't have health insurance through the County?
A: Absolutely! Bright Start benefits ALL Knox County employees.
Q: I work part-time for Knox County. Can I join Bright Start?
A: Yes, the program is open to ALL Knox County employees.
Q: I am not a Bright Start member; can I still attend Bright Start activities?
