Knox County Health Department (KCHD) is instituting new operational hours for two of its outlying clinics, effective Dec. 1. The Teague Clinic, located at 405 Dante School Road in north Knox County, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Hardy Clinic, located at 2202 Martin Luther King Avenue, will schedule patients between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Both clinics will be closed on Friday.
“Based on our research of clinic use, the revised clinic hours will allow us to provide the same level of service at the Teague and Hardy clinics while better utilizing our nurses,” said Mark Jones, Knox County Health Department director. “And assigning extra staffing to our busier clinics also enables us to provide better service in those areas. It’s really a matter of efficiency.”
No staff reductions are being made. Nurses are being reassigned to clinics with higher patient volume: the Adult Preventive Health and World Travel Clinic and the Communicable Disease Clinic at the main facility on Dameron Avenue, and the West Clinic, located at 1028 Old Cedar Bluff Road.
KCHD also expects some cost savings from using less utilities, janitorial services and courier services as a result of the new clinic hours.
All patients affected by the change will be notified and rescheduled, if necessary.
