Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities

Healty Kids Knox County is one of 41 sites selected to participate in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities initiative. Plans for the funding, as outlined by the grant, are to improve opportunities for physical activity and access to affordable, healthy foods for children and families in Knox County. For more information or to get involved, contact Ben Epperson at 215-5184.

One of the HKHC success stories: the Inskip Paint the Pavement Project
Intended to slow traffic in front of Inskip Elementary School, the new street mural helps remind drivers to watch the road carefully because kids are walking to school. The idea for it, and the Inskip community association itself, grew out of the health department's Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities program.
Check out this News Sentinel video on the project.
