Kathy Saunders is the liaison between the Director of Engineering and Public Works, Dwight Van de Vate, and the Fire Bureau. Kathy represents the Bureau for public and professional organizational interaction. Kathy manages all activities and operations for the Bureau, which includes:


  • Developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies and priorities
  • Creating and navigating the Bureau's operational budget
  • Monitoring and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods, programs, and procedures
  • Selecting, training, motivating, and evaluating Bureau personnel
  • Acting as liaison between county government and local emergency agencies
  • Developing new programs and improving existing programs to assist county fire departments
