Use Your SNAP/EBT Card at New Harvest Farmers Market

In an effort to make the local, healthy products sold at New Harvest Park Farmers Market available to more people in the community, Knox County will accept SNAP electronic benefit cards beginning Thursday, June 2.

Of the products allowed on the SNAP program, New Harvest Farmers Market carries many, and at least one type in each category. Those categories include breads and cereals; fruits and vegetables; meats, fish and poultry; dairy products; and seeds or plants which produce food for the household.

This week expect to see berries, cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers, romaine lettuce, mixed lettuce, kale, mustard greens, Swiss chard, onions, turnips, salsa and bakery items. Other products available at the market include soaps, wind chimes, jewelry, and hand knitted and crocheted items.

The New Harvest Park Farmers Market is open every Thursday, from 3 to 6 p.m., and is located at 2447 New Harvest Boulevard, just past the Target shopping center on Washington Pike. The park features a splash pad, playground, and quarter mile walking trail.
