City Financial Disclosure Ordinance
Sec. 1-14. Financial disclosure of candidates
In addition to the requirements of state law, any candidate for elective office of the city shall provide the following additional disclosure of contributions:
(1) Any candidate who has filed a qualifying petition with the Knox County Election Commission as of June 14, 2001, shall file a disclosure of contributions and expenditures with the Election Commission on June 15, 2001, and on the fifteenth of each month thereafter up to the date of the primary and the general election, if one is required. The disclosure of contributions and expenditures herein required shall include each and every contribution received, including the identity of each contributor, and each andevery expenditure of funds, regardless of the amount.
(2) Any candidate who files a qualifying petition on or after June 15, 2001, shall file a disclosure of contributions and expenses on the fifteenth of each month after the month of filing the qualifying petition up to the date of the primary and the general election, if one is required. The disclosure of contributions and expenditures herein required shall include each and every contribution received, including the identity of each contributor, and each and every expenditure of funds, regardless of the amount.
(3) Beginning with the year 2002, any candidate who files a qualifying petition shall provide a disclosure of contributions and expenses within one (1) month of the selection of a treasurer for that candidate's campaign. A supplement shall be filed on a monthly basis thereafter up to the date of the primary and the general election, if one is required. The disclosure of contributions and expenditures herein required shall include each and every contribution received, including the identity of each contributor,and each and every expenditure of funds, regardless of the amount. Notwithstanding anything herein to the contrary, if the required date of filing a disclosure of contributions falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the filing with the election commission shall be accomplished on the next business day.
