
With the upcoming holiday season upon us, the Knox County Health Department (KCHD) is focused on keeping your family healthy and eating right. KCHD is offering several healthy lifestyle seminars, including one specifically designed to promote healthy holiday eating.
“A Healthy Weigh to Go” is be held at two different times on Tuesday, November 10th. This seminar is designed to help you encourage your children to eat right and move more. Times are from 9:00-10:00 a.m. or 6:00-7:00 p.m. Two $100 Pilot gift cards will be given away and attendees will receive a free gift and a healthy snack just for showing up. Free childcare will be provided for children ages two and older.
For your personal holiday health, check out theNovember 18th Healthy Eating free food demonstration series that focuses on healthy holiday eating and making healthy side dishes. This one focuses on healthy and creative ways to prepare sweet potatoes and broccoli. The demonstration will be conducted by KCHD health education program manger and cooking instructor with the Glass Bazaar Terri Geiser and Susan Fowlkes, the KCHD director of clinical nutrition. The session will be held on Wednesday the 18th from noon to 1:00 p.m.
Both events will occur in the KCHD Auditorium located at 140 Dameron Avenue. They are free and open to the public Registration is required by calling 215-5170.
