The Citizen Review Panels have made their recommendations about which community groups will receive funding from Knox County. The five review panels met throughout the month of March to review the 143 applications that requested more than $5M in funding. The panels reviewed and scored the applications after hearing from representatives from the applying agencies. Of the $2M that was available for grant funding, $510K went to seniors/veterans services; $475K to social services; $430K to tourism/cultural services; $365K to youth services; and $220K to health services. A fuller description of the review process is available here. Forty seven of the 59 volunteers ultimately participated in the full process, each donating between 20 and 30 hours to develop the recommendations for Knox County Commission.
