Criminal Court Clerk, Mike Hammond, is pleased to announce a newly formed consulting partnership with Knox County Community Action Committee’s Workforce Connections Program. Workforce Connections offers a wide array of services and programs focused on employment assistance and related training and support services. Through Workforce Connections, anyone in the community, regardless of income, may access a variety of employment-related services at the American Job Center. Individuals using the center can learn about employment opportunities in the community, how to assess their personal skills, update their resume, and/or participate in workshops designed to assist them in acquiring employment. Through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Workforce Connections offers occupational skill training and Vocation/Technical training assistance (limited to 2 year programs or less) for laid-off workers and low-income persons (youth and adults) who meet eligibility criteria. Eligible participants may receive financial assistance for tuition, books, tools, uniforms, transportation, and/or testing fees. In addition, a Disability Resource Coordinator is also available at the Tennessee Career Center to serve as a resource for job seekers and employers and to assist individuals with disabilities who have received a “Ticket to Work” from the Social Security Administration.
