Susanne Dupes is Director of Communications and Media Relations for the Knox County Mayor’s Office. Dupes serves as spokesperson for the Mayor and coordinates internal and external communications planning and campaigns. Since joining the Mayor’s staff in 2008, Dupes has worked to enhance communications programs, including launching the Knox County News community newsletter, On the Inside employee newsletter, (both were cited by the local Public Relations Society chapter), an online newsroom for media and the new Knox Green Team website. She coordinated the publicity campaign for the knoxAchieves program. She also coordinated the very successful Mobile Meals fundraiser and the County’s first celebration of National County Government Week.
Before joining Ragsdale’s staff, Dupes was Director of Corporate Communications for Information International Associates in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She currently serves on the Board of the Epilepsy Foundation of East Tennessee and the Volunteer Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Dupes also serves on the branding and messaging committee of the United Way of Greater Knoxville and has recently joined the Knox County Schools Partnership in Education committee. She is a 2008 graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy and a 2007 graduate of Leadership Oak Ridge.
Dupes is accredited by the International Association of Business Communicators and the Public Relations Society of America. She is a candidate for accreditation by the Association for Women in Communications. She holds a masters degree in information science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a bachelor’s degree in English and journalism from Tennessee Technological University.
