Doug Bataille is the County's Director of Parks and Recreation. Bataille has worked in recreation for 25 years, including work with the Navy and the YMCA.
Bataille serves as a board member for Ijams Nature Center, Knox Area Junior Golf Association, the Wee Course at Williams Creek, the Great Smoky Mountains regional Greenway System and Character Counts Knoxville. He is a past president of the Tennessee Recreation and Park Association, the Tennessee Recreation and Park Association County Representative and as one of the Southern Region Representatives of the National Recreation and Park Association. He is also a graduate of the 2001 class of Leadership Knoxville.
Bataille earned a Bachelor's in education from Ohio University and a Master's in Parks and Recreation Administration from Indiana University.
