Mike Arms is the Chief-of-Staff for the Mayor's office. Prior to coming to the Mayor's office, Arms was the Vice President of Business Development at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and before that was the Director of Systems Engineer Division. Before joining SAIC, Arms served as the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) as Senior Industrial Engineer and assistant to the General Manager.
Arms Chairs the Regional Clean Air Coalition and is a lifetime member of the Optimist Club of America. He currently serves on the Boards of Technology 2020, WUOT 91.1 FM, the Association of Tennessee Valley Governments, the East Tennessee Economic Council, the Valley Corridor Summit and the American Museum of Science and Energy
He was the District Administrator for the Pellissippi District Boy Scouts of America and has served on the Board of Directors for the Arts Council of Greater Knoxville, Junior Achievement of East Tennessee and President's Associates at Pellissippi State Community College.
Arms earned a Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. He is a certified Public Administrator and completed Harvard University's Mediation Program of Study.
