Commissioner Moore's youthful zest and enthusiasm for improved communication and economic development sent a strong message throughout the Seventh District.
Scott Moore brings unique experience to the Knox County Commission, having been a sergeant with the Sheriff's Department for fourteen years, as well as being a successful businessman. Commissioner Moore left the Sheriff's Department to concentrate on his business, Moore Properties, which specializes in apartment complexes and vacation condos.
In September of 2004, Commissioner Moore was elected by his colleagues to serve as Chairman of the full Knox County Commission. Commissioner Moore presently serves on the Intergovernmental Committee. He is also a member of the Knox County Board of Zoning Appeals.
Scott Moore is the son of Ernest and Margaret Haynes Moore. Commissioner Moore is a life-long resident of the Halls community; his grandparents, Raymond and Maude Haynes were among the earliest settlers in the Halls community. Commissioner Moore has two sisters, Debbie Heck and Connie Craft.
Commissioner Moore has been involved in the community and political issues for sometime, serving as President of the Halls Republican Club, and an active member of both the Fountain City Republican Club and the Young Republican Club. Commissioner Moore is also the Chairman of the Halls Republican Precinct Committee, and a Vice Chairman of the Knox County Republican Party.
Commissioner Moore attended Knox County public schools and graduated from Halls High School and the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy.
Scott Moore is married to the former Lorie Tipton. Commissioner and Mrs. Moore have two children, Weston and Brooke. The Moores are active members of the Halls Christian Church and reside at 7501 Quarry Road.
